New York Gazette - July 3rd 1758 ja 11-21-1763
This happened along the Delaware River when a group of Natives were surprised and fired upon by new york soldiers. By the fresh scalps the Natives (unkown tribal affiliation but possible Delawares by geographic reason) were likely on a long term raid. The gear a raiding party might have carried - or might have left behind as not essential when spooked from a camp.
June 24th 1758
"the Indians afterwards fled; and left 4 good guns, 4 tomahawks, 3 spears, 18 pir of mogasons, 16 pair of Indian stockings, 5 shirts, 12 blankets, 3 hats, 1 laced coat, 5 silver buckles, 10 belts, 3 strings of wampum, 5 scalping knives, 4 scalps just taken and many trifles more."
November 21th 1763
"Our men followed them to the head of the south fork of Potowmack, and, without being discovered, attacked them in their camp; the Indians made but a slight resistance, none o fthem firing above two rounds, and some of them ran off without taking up theri firelocks. Six of them were scalped in their camp; and from the report of the Officers in the action, not less than 15 are mortally wounded, as appeared by the streams of blood in their tracks. Their getting instantly into a large laurel thicket preventing our people finding them. It is certain many of them must persist, for they left all their clothes;
100 blankets
a number of shirts
above 100 pair of mockasons, and even their breechclouts
...8 forelocks and a considerable quantity of powder and lead...
...the scalps of the men killed in the engagement...were found in their baggage..."

Lyhyemmistäkin on kuulemma mainintoja.

Lueskelin Nicolas Denys -nimisen kaverin kuvausta micmaceista vuodelta 1672. Keihäistä mainitsee näin:Simo Hankaniemi kirjoitti:Millaisia ne olivat? Pituus, suosituimmat varsimateriaalit, kärki?
Their lances were also of Beech, at the end of which they fixed a large pointed bone. They used them to spear animals when there was deep snow.
As to the work of the men, it consisted in making their bows, which were of Maple, an unsplit piece. In fashioning them, they made use of their axes and knives; for polishing them, they used shells of Oysters or other shells, with which they polished as can be done with glass. Their arrows were of Cedar, which splits straight; they were nearly half a fathom in length. They feathered them with Eagles' quills. In place of iron they tipped them with bone.

Katajahan on laajimmalle levinnyt havupuu maailmassa.
